Based on the belief that stronger associations can enhance Africa’s development and provide opportunities for more business in Africa that attract knowledge, investment and growth opportunities for all Africans, the African Society of Association Executives (AfSAE), in partnership with the Rwanda Convention Bureau (RCB) organized an education conference to provide a focused education to the Rwandan-Based associations as well as those within the East African region on 21-22 June 2018. We are pleased to report that the conference – which offered a one and a half day of education on Essential Practices in Association Management was successful and saw over 75 association executives from Rwanda and across East Africa go through the first module of the curriculum that is originally provided by the American Society of Association Executives as its Certificate Program in Association Management.
Ideally, the participants were taken through the module 1 of a 5-module program that results in a Certificate of Knowledge from ASAE and AFSAE. AfSAE delivered the education for free, as part of its initiative and determination to improve the association management industry in Africa.
In this regard, we would like to appreciate the RCB for their concerted effort to make the conference a success, and for being part of an initiative that not only promoted the participant’s professional development but also contributed to a better African Civil Society. We would also wish to thank the participants for showing their belief in AfSAE as a key stakeholder and a driver of change in Africa’s association management space. Lastly, we would like to appreciate the conference facilitators, Mr. Jeffers Miruka (AfSAE President) and Mr. Gregg. H. Talley, CAE (AfSAE management advisor), and all other stakeholders who made the conference a success.
